Q: I have a MacBook Pro, which I tend to use only when I'm traveling. At home, I use my iMac. Since we have not been traveling of late, I have not used my laptop. Recently, I turned on the laptop just to get it working again and noticed that Yahoo! had signed me out of its email app and wouldn't let me back in on the laptop only. I changed my password several times in an attempt to access the account but each time I did so I received an error message saying something had gone wrong and to repeat the process, which I did to no avail. Do you have any suggestions as to how to access my Yahoo! Mail account on my laptop again?
One possible reason you cannot access your account is that your browser needs to be updated.
Since you've been using your iMac and accessing Yahoo! Mail on it without problem during the pandemic, there's a good chance that this computer has received all the proper updates needed to run your various apps and services during this time.
But because your laptop has been off for many months, it has not. Thus, the browser technology needed for account authentication to your Yahoo! mail on your MacBook may not be available, and that may be why the login process has stalled on it.
Try updating your version of Safari on the laptop and see if that fixes the problem.
Go to the App Store, locate Safari and click Update. After doing so relaunch the browser and try accessing Yahoo! Mail again. It should let you in this time.
If not, then try clearing your browser cookies and cache (instructions are available here: laptopmag.com/articles/safari-delete-cookies) or try accessing your Yahoo! Mail login from a different page. That means that if you are using a bookmarked page to access the service, then the link to your login on that page may be going to a cached page instead of a live page and that may be why you can't login.
In addition to this, make sure your browser's autofill settings are disabled. Since you have changed your password several times recently, this ensures the browser is not entering an old password into the login field by mistake when you are signing in.

If it still doesn't work, then try using another browser to access the account, such as Firefox (mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new) or Opera (opera.com).
Keep in mind too that Yahoo! Mail has moved towards two-step verification for account access in the last year or so. While not mandatory at the moment, it involves granting access to your account first by entering a login and password and then by entering a second means of authentication, such as approval access through a smartphone app or by entering a temporary access code that's texted or emailed to you. Note: Once two-step verification is enabled, account access will no longer involve password entry — so this may simplify the task as well.

I loathe ALL Google wares as they are all resource hogs on the Mac OS.
Ditch Google Chrome and download and install the latest Mozilla Firefox Browser.
You do not know when or if Mozilla will cease support for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
As long as the Mozilla group keeps issuing FireFox updates that are still compatible with OS X Snow Leopard, use this web browser until such time as Mozilla makes a formal announcement about their OS X support.
Mozilla only recently withdrew support for OS X 10.5 Leopard.
It maybe awhile before they withdraw support for Snow Leopard.
